Welcome to my Useless Site

This site was created with the single purpose of curbing my boredome. As the name implies, this site has no use what-so-ever.

I'm happy to say that the final migration to this server is over! It took a while but the end result is well worth it. This site has called many places home. First it was hosted on a Global Network Navigator beta server. When AOL decided to pull the plug on their ill fated ISP, the site acocunt migrated to AOL.

For a few years, the site found a home at quixotic.org, a defunct Internet venture started by a friend of mine. When that business, and the server, went belly up, I moved the site to a hosting company. I'm happy to say that the final migration of quannet.org to this server is over! It took a while but the end result is well worth it. A good chunk of my life is in these pages. I hope you enjoy what you find. You can take a gander at the old, crappily designed site here.

If you noticed, Quannet.org was down for over a week. Reason behind that is I bought a house and moved in on the 4th of July. It took the incompetent staff at the local telecom, not naming any names but the company has an A and two Ts in its name, over a week to get my DSL order straightened out. And since my domain is hosted in my own little data center, all connectivity to Quannet.org was lost for the duration of the telecom ordeal. Anyway, it's back up now and I hope it stays that way.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

It's with a heavy heart that I post this. James Doohan died today at 5:30 a.m. in his Redmond, WA home. He battled long and hard against the effects of Alzheimers and the myriad other illnesses that came with aging. Cause of death was pneumonia and Alzheimers, according to CNN.com. I could continue with his biography but won't. You can search the Web for all the James Doohan info you want.

I must say I've not met anyone like her. Anyone who meets her instantly fall in love with her. She's quite charismatic.

Entertaining Web page about picking the geek in the corner over that hunky jock at the bar. Nice to know there are women singing the praises of geekiness.

After a long hiatus, I've decided to resurrect The Admiral. I have a few short stories penned leading up to his return but they're written in screen-play format. Undecided on whether I'm going to rewrite them as regular short stories.

Eesh. Has it been five months since I actually posted something new on the site? Shame on me for being so lax. So why should I even bother posting something now? I guess it's a good way for me to cope with a sudden case of the blues. I don't keep a journal so this is the next best thing.

We have just learned that Ambassador Angel Swan, long-notorious suspect of many an untoward deed in the Alpha Quadrant, has become engaged to Fleet Admiral Andrew C. Varen of the Apocalypse Fleet. According to sources, Admiral Varen was already engaged at the time the Ambassador stole his heart for herself. Furthermore, Ambassador Swan was already married to the Emperor of the J'nan Empire, Virago. Admiral Varen has since broken off his engagement, to Fleet Admiral Olympia MacEwan of the Phoenix Fleet, and Ambassador Swan has annulled her marriage to Emperor Virago.
The date of their wedding is tentatively set for Easter Sunday.

With gathering momentum, the poll to resurrect the Admirable Admiral is spreading like crazy across the Internet. Already, it appears on a page at Angel Swan's Worlds of Star Trek:

http://angel.scientium.com/restore-quan/

and who knows how much farther it could go!?

Will the Federation be saved from the Wrath of Swan? Will Swan submit to Quan? Will she finally be domesticated into a monogamous relationship? Though none can say for sure, this reporter feels that changes are definitely in the air!

Note: For those not in the know, The Admiral's a fictional character found in a series of short stories. He's loosely based on a real person. Some may recognize him, some may not. He was killed off a few years ago. Whether that was good or bad, who can say? Will the poll results influence his resurrection? Who can say? ;)

I've added the Mustang stuff. I have a domain for the GTS info site but little time to work on it. So it looks like a site dedicated to the Mustang GTS will be on hold for a little bit.

Here's a great example of karma and the Universe's balancing effect in action. I love these kinds of stories.
